Welcome to Maynard Racing.
I compete in British Rallycross, sponsored by Practical Car & Van Rentals and KAP Motor Group Ltd, driving a Suzuki Swift Sport. The class I compete in is highly competitive, due to the very similar specification of the cars, dictated by the regulations for the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship.
This website is my blog, detailing my journey from non-participant to full-time competitor in the British Suzuki Swift Rallycross Championship.
I started racing in 2013, doing complete seasons up until the end of 2015, when I considered taking a sabbatical to re-group, mentally, physically and financially to go back again in 2017. However, a chance encounter with the motorsport-fanatical KAP Group saw them as sponsors throughout most of 2015, and they wanted to be involved again in 2016.
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with KAP, so we shook on a deal to give me the opportunity to go racing in 2016. In return for title sponsorship, the car has been completely transformed from the eye-catching papaya orange she spent her youth in, to a more menacing grey with KAP, Suzuki Cars & Practical Car & Van Rental graphics and branding.
As a motor group based in Kent, the obvious events to commit to were the ones at Lydden Hill – one on Easter Bank holiday at the end of March, and one on the August Bank holiday at the end of August.
Maud (the name I’ve had for my car since creation) will also be on display at their Suzuki dealership in Canterbury throughout early 2016, as well as appearing at the BHP Performance show at Lydden later in the year.
Whilst I kept my blog up-to-date to the beginning of 2015, work and race life have been so busy that I’ve not been able to keep up the in-depth records I like to keep on this site. I have them all in draft and will finalise them in time, but the best place to keep up-to-date with my activities is on my Facebook page, or follow me on Twitter.
Thanks for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy reading about my journey.
